The countdown to Fall is on, but Summer fun is still going strong at Kentucky Kingdom located in Louisville, Kentucky. If you’re looking to make the most of these final sunny weekends, now is the time to grab your family and plan the ultimate day at Kentucky Kingdom Theme & Water Park. With August hours shifting to weekends only, this is your chance to ride, splash, snack, and soak it all in before the season changes.

Park Hours: Plan It Right

Summer may be winding down, but the fun at Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay Water Park is still full speed ahead. With a shift to weekend-only operations in August, it’s the perfect time to soak up every last drop of sunshine and excitement. 

Beginning Saturday, August 9, Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay are open every Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM EST through the rest of the month (with the exception of August 24, 2025 (Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay will be closed for a private event).

These limited days mean you’ll want to make the most of every visit!

Start with the Splash

Make a beeline for Kentucky Kingdom’s Hurricane Bay Water Park early to cool off and beat the lines. August temperatures are still sizzling, and nothing beats a refreshing plunge into Adventure River or the spiraling Calypso Run. For younger guests, Buccaneer Beach is a must experience as it offers dozens of interactive water features with low entry tides for little ones.

Morning (11 AM – 1 PM EST):
Head straight to Hurricane Bay to catch shorter lines at the slides and wave pool before it gets busy.

Afternoon (1 PM – 4 PM EST):
Dry off, grab lunch at Bourbon Craft House, then hit the coasters and family-friendly rides while lines mellow out.

Evening (4 PM – 7 PM EST):
