A second new land, Happy Valley Farm, brings a sunny barnyard to life for you and your family. Here is what's coming, when it opens and how a 2027 Season Pass fits in.

What Is Midnight Showdown at Kentucky Kingdom?

Midnight Showdown is Kentucky Kingdom's new family-friendly, horse racing-themed wooden roller coaster, billed as the world's largest indoor wooden coaster. It's set to open in spring 2027 as the park's seventh coaster, and it anchors the new Bluegrass Downs land. See the Midnight Showdown ride page for updates as they're announced.

Gravity Group of Cincinnati built the coaster, which features 1,130 feet of wood track and stands more than three stories tall. Two trains of 10 riders each gallop at up to 32 mph through a ride of about 130 seconds, with 11 airtime moments along the way.

The story is pure Kentucky. Racing legend William Ryder rode his horse Whirlwind to a nose-length win over rival Samuel Calder in a midnight showdown, and you and your family relive it from the saddle. Projected animation, sound effects and special lighting turn the dark, torch-lit ride into a race, with the booming call of "And they're off!" and the sound of pounding hooves leading you in.

What Is Bluegrass Downs?

Bluegrass Downs is a new land at Kentucky Kingdom inspired by Kentucky's horse racing legacy, with Midnight Showdown as its centerpiece. It completely reimagines five existing rides to fit a racing-inspired setting, so even familiar favorites will feel brand new to your family.

Think white fences, grand spires and jockey-silk colors, a fitting new look in Louisville, home of the Kentucky Derby, that brings the excitement of Kentucky's legendary horse races to life. Your family is welcomed by live bluegrass music and a trio of oversized golden horseshoes made for photos. See the Bluegrass Downs land page for more.

The five reimagined rides are

  • Whirlwind: a spinning thrill ride.

  • Soaring Silks: a gondola ride beneath a balloon in jockey-silk colors.

  • Jolly Juleps: a whirling teacup ride around a giant mint julep cup.

  • My Old Kentucky Carousel: a musical carousel.

  • Bumper Derby: a bumper car track for rookie riders and seasoned jockeys alike.

What Is Happy Valley Farm?

Happy Valley Farm is a new land that celebrates the sunny side of Kentucky farm life and completes Kentucky Kingdom's theme park transformation. It brings the barnyard to life with eight reimagined rides, including Friendly Frogs, Loopy Lambs and Country Cruisers.

A barn sits at the center of the land, surrounded by sunflowers and farm outposts, with bluegrass music and red gingham banners setting the scene. Meet the Haywood family and their barnyard animals, from chickens who seem to run the place to goats who love a rooftop view.

The eight reimagined rides are Porch Swing, Harvest Swing, Loopy Lambs, Flutterfly, Friendly Frogs, Pig Pen Escape, Country Cruisers and Stampede Run, which is also a coaster. The land is also home to the Flying Fox, the suspended family coaster that debuted in May 2026, so your family can ride two coasters without leaving the farm. See the Happy Valley Farm land page for the full lineup.
