Something exciting is taking shape on the horizon of Kentucky Kingdom, and it’s not just steel and track. It’s a story. A legacy. A high-flying adventure waiting to take off.
Opening in 2026, Flying Fox is Kentucky Kingdom’s newest roller coaster, and it’s more than a ride. It’s a storytelling experience that soars. Designed to capture the daring spirit of Kentucky’s cropdusting history, Flying Fox combines rich theming with thrilling coaster technology for a ride that’s as immersive as it is exhilarating.
Let’s pull back the curtain and take a look at what makes this new attraction so special.
Before drones, GPS-guided tractors, and modern farming equipment, the skies over America’s heartland buzzed with brave pilots and their nimble planes. Cropdusting took flight in 1921 when Lt. John A. Macready made history by dusting crops with insecticide from a modified biplane.
By the 1950s, the skies were full of thrill-seeking agricultural pilots, many of them World War II veterans, who flew low, fast, and fearlessly to keep fields thriving. These “ag pilots” became heroes in their own right, dodging powerlines, fences, and the occasional bird in pursuit of healthier harvests.
Flying Fox pays homage to those bold early aviators with a coaster experience that captures their wild maneuvers and love for the open sky.
At the heart of Flying Fox’s story is Jeb Fox, a born-to-fly cropduster following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Douglas “Dusty” Fox. As a child, Jeb fashioned wooden wings and a propeller hat, launching himself off the roof (into a haystack, of course) in his first attempt to take flight.
Now a seasoned pilot, Jeb has built a special training course to recruit the next generation of daring flyers, and he’s invited you to take the controls.
Guests will join Jeb for a sky-high mission, complete with dizzying dives, sweeping turns, and jaw-dropping near-misses that test both courage and imagination.
From the moment you step into the attraction, the story takes flight. You’ll start at a charming red barn with a towering grain silo and vintage produce stand. Posters, flight banners, and friendly “recruiting” messages line the path, welcoming you into the world of cropdusting.
Inside, you’ll find Jeb’s office tucked away among seed sacks, ropes, blackboards, and barn tools, a peek into the daily life of a pilot. A photo op in front of his orange biplane sets the stage before you board your own flight and head for the skies.
Once strapped in, guests will launch into a series of thrilling drops and hills that mirror the maneuvers of real cropdusters. One highlight? A dive through an old root cellar before bursting back into the open air.
With its mix of storytelling and adrenaline, the all-new Flying Fox roller coaster is a ride the whole family will want to do again and again.
